Bio
Tat Smith is Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Fellow in the Society of American Foresters, Member of the Forest Research Advisory Council of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, President-elect of the National Association of Professional Forestry Schools and Colleges, and the vice-chair of the Board on Natural Resources of the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges. Professor Smith obtained a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia, an M.A. in forestry from the University of Vermont, and a Ph.D. in forest resources from the University of Maine.

Sustainable production of bioenergy from managed forests, effects of intensive management on nutrient cycling in spruce-fir forests of New England, and the development of criteria indicators of sustainable forest management.
