SPPG Prof Wendy Dobson on the Challenges G20 Leaders face in China

The G20 summit will take place this coming weekend in China. In response to this upcoming meeting of leaders, SPPG Professor Wendy Dobson and Rotman Dean Tiff Macklem, weigh in on the challenges that the G20 face.

As Chair of the 2016 G20 Summit, President Xi Jinping has proposed 10 deliverables for the summiteers. Dobson and Macklem highlight four important deliverables including: a new blueprint for innovative growth, addressing slow growth, a commitment to climate change and strengthening global economic governance.

Wendy Dobson is an Adjunct Professor and Co-Director for the Institute of International Business at Rotman and former Canadian Associate Deputy Minister of Finance. She chairs the Pacific Trade and Development (PAFTAD) research network and has published in English and Mandarin on Asia’s rise; the future of the Indian and Chinese economies in the world economy; the Chinese financial system; and Chinese innovation. Professor Dobson’s most recent book is Partners and Rivals: The Uneasy Future of China’s Relationship with the United States.
