SPPG Professor and RBC Chair in Applied Social Work Research Daniyal Zuberi spoke at this year’s RBC Conference: The Inclusive and Sustainable City of the 21st Century.

Professor Zuberi discussed urban inequality in North American cities during his discussion at the conference. He discussed how, “For many people who don’t have resources, they’re increasingly left behind, socially isolated, simply pushed out into either the least desirable parts of these cities or into the suburbs, or they are forced to move to other cities”.

Professor Daniyal Zuberi is RBC Chair and Associate Professor of Social Policy at the School of Public Policy and Governance, with a Joint Appointment to the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Previously he was the William Lyon Mackenzie King Research Fellow (2011-2012) at Harvard University and a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. His research is supported by grants from several organizations including three of Canada’s four primary funding agencies, SSHRC, CFI and CIHR. He currently holds a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) New Investigator Salary Award (2011-2016).
