SPPG Policy Talks: Featuring Maya Halevy and Lior Schillat

SPPG presents: Policy Talks featuring  Maya Halevy, Executive Director of Bloomfield Science Museum and Lior Schillat, Director General of the Jerusalem Institute for Policy Research, two of Jerusalem’s leading change-makers who are building the city’s future, to hear about and discuss the pressing policy policy challenges in Jerusalem.

The two policy experts from Israel will be visiting the University of Toronto’s School of Public Policy and Governance on Wednesday, July 12 and SPPG Professor Phil Triadafilopoulous will be moderating the discussion.

Maya HaLevy, Executive Director, Bloomfield Science Museum

For more than 20 years, Maya HaLevy has been developing a multitude of programming that promotes formal and informal science education in Israel. She initiated a strategic approach to advancing Jerusalem’s science education ecosystem, working closely with the Ministry of Education to elevate Israel’s ranking in STEM education. Maya is a strong believer in the people to people approach and has cross border cooperative efforts with the European Union and science museums around the world. Maya has BA in Architecture and Town Planning from the Technion, and MA in Public Policy  from the Hebrew University.  

Lior Schillat, Director General of the Jerusalem Institute for Policy Research (JIPR)

Lior was recently appointed the Director General of JIPR, a think tank that produces crucial research on Jerusalem trends.  At the age of 22, he served as a senior advisor to former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, and went on to co-found the Galilaea Group, an investment firm specializing in cybersecurity and energy. He is the immediate past Director of ANSEC, a research institute focusing on global security challenges.  Lior has a BA in Geography and Jewish Studies from Hebrew University, an MA in Energy and Geo-Politics and an MA in International Relations from Tufts University.
