SPPG Grad Vass Bednar argues that that incumbency on city councils is bad for democracy

In her recent Globe and Mail Op-ed, SPPG Grad Vass Bednar notes that Toronto experienced only a 16 per cent turn over in the most recent municipal election and an incumbent was only defeated in one riding. Vass argues that this trend is having a negative effect on our democracy.

Vasiliki (Vass) Bednar is an Action Canada fellow and deputy director of cities at the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
