Bio
Richard Stren is Emeritus Professor of Political Science, and Senior Fellow at the Global Cities Institute. His major area of interest is comparative urban policy with a special interest in developing countries.

Professor Stren is a member of the editorial advisory board of three international journals. He has written or edited 18 books in both English and French, and more than 60 articles and book chapters. He has been consultant to UN-Habitat, CIDA, SIDA (Sweden), the World Bank, USAID, and the Cities Alliance.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political economy from the University of Toronto, and a master’s and doctoral degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. In 2014, he was given an honorary doctorate by the University of Quebec (INRS), and the Norton Long Career Achievement Award by the American Political Science Association.
