Gustavo Bobonis is Associate Professor of Economics and Research Associate for the Center for Economics and Public Affairs. He is the Canada Research Chair in the Political Economy of Development. His areas of interest include development economics, labour economics, and political economy. He has been published in distinguished journals including the Review of Economics and Statistics and the Journal of Human Resource, and is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including the Journal of Development Economics Award in 2003, and a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) research grant for the years 2007-2009. Professor Bobonis received his B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
