Book Launch for Backrooms and Beyond: Partisan Advisers and the Politics of Policy Work in Canada by Jonathan Craft

April 20, 2016 | By |

Though they serve in many roles and under many titles, no one doubts that Canadian political staffs now wield substantial influence in the making of government policy.

Backrooms and Beyond draws on interviews with federal and provincial ministers, senior public servants, and political advisers to offer the first detailed Canadian treatment of how that influence is gained and exercised in the policy making process. The book offers a rich and rigorous look at an important aspect of contemporary Canadian politics.

Jonathan Craft is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Political Science and jointly appointed to the School of Public Policy and Governance. Join him in conversation with two former Prime Minister’s Office staff: The Honourable Hugh Segal and Derek Vanstone.

RSVP to sari.sherman@utoronto.ca by Friday, April 15, 2016. Space is very limited.

This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science, School of Public Policy and Governance, and Samara Canada.
