Join SPPG on April 4, 2017 for a talk on Ballot Behaviour: Referenda, Cognition, and Choice featuring Professor Arthur Lupia!
In this lecture, Lupia will reflect on the potential for citizens to make informed decisions on referenda, and the potential usefulness of referenda as a tool for government decision-making.
Arthur Lupia is the Hal Varian Collegiate Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan and the Chair of the National Research Council’s Roundtable on the Application of Social and Behavioral Science Research. He recently served as an advisor to the Colombian government in the lead up to the 2016 peace agreement referendum.
Lupia’s work frequently appears in political science, economics, and law journals and his editorials are published in leading newspapers. In 2016, Oxford University Press released his latest book, Uninformed: Why People Know So Little About Politics and What We Can Do About It. He has been a John Simon Guggenheim fellow, a fellow at the Center for the Study of Behavioural and Social Sciences, and is one of the inaugural Andrew Carnegie fellows.
