About this Book
Former Ontario minister of finance and newly appointed chancellor of York University, Greg Sorbara, is set to release a new memoir with Dundurn Press on November 1st. Titled Greg Sorbara: The Battlefield of Ontario Politics, the memoir chronicles Sorbara’s 27-year political career and offers a behind-the-scenes look at life in the McGuinty cabinet during two successive administrations.

“A civil society depends on a healthy political system. For three decades I was a practitioner helping to shape the events that influence Ontario’s development. This memoir, for me, is a very personal perspective on that journey.”
In his book, Sorbara reflects earnestly on the experiences and choices that shaped him, including a 2005 criminal investigation and the breaking of an important campaign promise. He also writes at length on the gas plant relocation, detailing the factors and conversations that went into the decision.

“My hope is that there will be some solid lessons learned from the stories I’ve accrued over the course of my career — that those who read this memoir will gain a clearer understanding of Ontario’s recent past so as to have a better chance of shaping a more vibrant future.”

Greg Sorbara served in two Liberal administrations and was Ontario’s minister of finance from 2003 to 2007. He most recently represented the riding of Vaughan as a member of the legislative assembly of Ontario until his retirement in 2012. In April, he was appointed chancellor of York University. He lives in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
