July 17, 2014 | By Public Policy Admin |
This workshop will look at how gender interacts with new media: what is the impact of a culture of expansive online exposure, new contexts for meeting and chatting with people, and countless new ways to influence how we present and are represented in the digital realm. Featuring: Patrick Keilty, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Information
This event will feature remarks by Patrick Keilty, followed by informal group discussion. Prof. Keilty is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Information and an Instructor in the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies, both at the University of Toronto. Prof. Keilty’s work has examined feminist and queer engagements with digital technology, focusing on how visual culture, database logic, and metadata shape and structure self-expression and sexual desire.
