The recent uprisings in the Middle East produced changes to the leadership of countries like Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya, but not Iran, Algeria, and Bahrain, while the struggle continues in Syria and Yemen.

In two panel discussions, this conference sought to understand local and regional forces of change that fueled the uprisings and how they have impacted different countries in the Middle East. In addition, participants discussed whether there has been any meaningful reform in this region, what has changed, and what has not.

Panelists discussed these trends, with Middle Eastern activists, bloggers, and journalists joining the discussions via the Internet.
