Zach Richer



Biography

Zach Richer is a political sociologist and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Science at the University of Toronto Scarborough. His research explores how immigration and cultural diversity give shape to the civil sphere, focusing on the work of community organizations. He is also part of a research team funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) investigating the role of ethnicity in processes of deliberation. Dr. Richer holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Bogazici University, and is currently writing a book on how identity is used in civic action to form connections with members of established groups and to affirm belonging in diversifying communities.
