Biography

Jing Qian is a Senior Advisor to the President and a Research Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), based in New York. At ASPI, Jing coordinates a research project on the future of U.S.-China relations. Prior to joining ASPI, Jing served as a research fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, working on U.S.-China relations, under direct supervision of the Hon. Kevin Rudd. He writes and speaks on China’s elite politics, the historical evolution of political and legal reforms in China, as well as the political dynamics and policy formulation processes related to China’s domestic affairs and foreign relations. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Earth Institute and is also deeply interested in the liberal arts and sustainability education. Originally from Hangzhou in China’s Zhejiang province, Jing holds a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School, a Master of Laws degree and a Ph.D. (ABD) in Law and Society from the University of Victoria in Canada, and a Bachelor of Laws from China.
