Biography

Ann Perry is the Director of the Administration for the Local Government Revenue Initiative (LoGRI), a new initiative of the Munk School and the International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD).  Ann will work closely with Will Prichard and his team to expand existing research and field work aimed at supporting the development of more effective, equitable and accountable tax systems in lower-income countries.

Ann is an experienced administrator, communications strategist and former journalist. She was part of the staff team hired in 2016 to start up Medicine by Design, a strategic initiative funded by the largest research award in U of T’s history to advance and accelerate regenerative medicine discoveries at the university and its affiliated hospitals. Since then, she has held a series of increasingly senior roles at Medicine by Design, including senior communications officer, manager of communications and operations, acting director of strategic planning and operations, and, mostly recently, associate director, administration. In this last position, Ann was responsible for operations, special projects, strategic communications, events, budgeting and financial reporting, and human resources.

Ann joined U of T in 2015 as a speech writer for the dean of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. Previously, she worked for 10 years as an editorial writer, editor and reporter at the Toronto Star before moving to strategic communications and writing positions in the Ontario government and at The United Church of Canada. She is a mentor in the Rose Patten Mentoring Learning Partnership and the Hart House Mentorship Program. She is a member of the University Affairs Board of the Governing Council of U of T for 2020-2021. She holds a M.A. in history from Queen’s University and a B.A. (First-Class Honours) in history from McGill University
