Biography

Kenneth MacDonald is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, UTSC. His research interests include restructuring of biodiversity conservation, new cultural ecologies of consumption, and cultural identity in Northern Pakistan. Teaching interests include diaspora studies and transnationalism, environmental conservation, and sustainable development. He is affiliated with Editorial Advisory Board, ACME: An International E-Journal for Critical Geography. Since 2004, he has been the Chair, Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy, Theme on Culture and Conservation, IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature). He was also the Chair, Socialist and Critical Geography Specialty Group, Association of American Geographers. He has received the 2008 Christensen Fund, Werner Gren Foundation, National Science Foundation (with Eleanor Sterling, American Museum of Natural History, Luisa Maffi, Terra Lingua) and the 2007 University of Toronto Connaught New Staff Matching Grant.
