John Kelleher

Biography

John Kelleher is a Partner and in-house CEO/CXO at McKinsey & Company and a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. He is a leader of McKinsey’s Private Equity Special Operations Group that focuses on providing elite leadership talent to drive large-scale turnarounds.

Mr. Kelleher is an experienced CEO and private equity investor. Most recently, he was a senior deal and operating executive for Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE), a $280 billion global asset manager. He has led companies extensively as a CEO/PE partner across a wide range of industries including retailing, manufacturing, technology, industrials and services. His key skill is combining his experience as an investor with his ability to execute as a CEO and Executive.

Prior to Brookfield, he spent 6 years leading two private-equity owned companies as President & CEO. Earlier, Kelleher was a co-founder, partner, and investor at ReichmannHauer Capital Partners. Previoulsy, he worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York.

Mr. Kelleher is also the co-chair of NEXT Canada, Canada’s leading program for entrepreneurial development and a Director of the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation. He has served extensively in the past as a director on for-profit and non-profit boards. John’s writing on corporate governance, corporate finance, and technology has been published in The Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star, McKinsey Quarterly, and Director, among other publications.

He holds an Honors BA in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business where he graduated as Gold Medalist; an MA in public administration from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government; and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he graduated with Distinction.
