Gabriel Eidelman

Biography

Gabriel Eidelman is an Assistant Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, where he teaches courses on urban policy, governance and institutions, and the policy process. He is currently serving the director of the Urban Policy Lab, which he founded in 2018 at the University of Toronto. He earned his PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto, and held a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Western University. His research focuses on cities and urban governance in North America, particularly the politics of land and property development. Gabriel’s work has been published in Cities, Urban Affairs Review, the Journal of Urban Affairs, the Canadian Journal of Political Science, and Politics & Policy. He has been recognized as a Clarence N. Stone Scholar and Norton Long Young Scholar by the American Political Science Association and was awarded the 2013 Vincent Lemieux Prize for best PhD thesis by the Canadian Political Science Association. Before returning to academia, Gabriel worked at the United Nations Division for Sustainable Development in New York, and the Public Policy Forum in Ottawa.
