Biography

Connie Carter is a recently retired law professor and barrister specializing in international trade and intellectual property. She was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn, London, and holds a PhD in law from the University of London School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS). Prior to teaching law at universities in Victoria, BC, Dr. Carter held senior executive positions at global organizations in various industries in Europe and China, most recently at a Sino-German joint venture in Xiamen, China.

Her diverse experience includes working with non-profits, corporates & post-secondary education in Canada, China, Denmark, France, Singapore, and the UK.

An accomplished public speaker, she has also published widely on SEZs (special economic zones), corporate social responsibility, law and development, and foreign direct investment. Her current research interests include digital privacy compliance, and business & human rights. She is a member of the International Bar Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
