TORONTO, ON – Ethan Nadelmann will be featured at the Centre for Study of the United States at the Munk School giving a talk entitled, “The Rise and Fall of the Global Drug Prohibition Regime.”

Ethan Nadelmann will address issues specific to Canada, as well as international matters such as:

*         Current debate on drug legalization in Latin America
*         Marijuana legalization in Colorado and Washington
*         Drug policy and the Obama Administration

Described by Rolling Stone as “the point man” for drug policy reform efforts, Ethan Nadelmann is widely regarded as the outstanding proponent of drug policy reform both in the United States and abroad. Ethan Nadelmann is the founder and executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, the leading organization in the United States promoting alternatives to the war on drugs. Nadelmann received his B.A., J.D., and Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard as well as a Masters’ degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and taught at Princeton University for seven years. His writings have appeared in the New York TimesWall Street JournalScience, and National Review, and he has appeared on programs including Real Time with Bill Maher, the Colbert Report, ABC’s Nightline, a Ted Koppel Special Report, NBC’s Today Show, NBC Nightly News, CBS’s 48 Hours, CBS Morning News, and Larry King Live.

The lecture is organized by Centre for Study of the United States at the Munk School of Global Affairs, and the Department for the Study of Religion, University of Toronto.
