Jacques Chirac, former French president, is dead at 86

The Munk School, and particularly the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, notes with sadness the passing of former French president Jacques Chirac. The President will be remembered for his firm support for the Franco-German relationship and European integration and his equally firm and principled opposition to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. We extend our condolences to the Chirac family and our best wishes to the people of France.
