The Indian government will spend over $12 billion USD on road construction over the next few years as part of a plan to upgrade its infrastructure and become a more competitive destination for foreign investment. In their newest project, Asian Institute Affiliate Ryan Pyle and his brother Colin will spend 60 days tackling over 14,000 km of Indian roads by motorcycle, witnessing the country’s rapid development firsthand.

The brothers’ journey will take them on a complete circumnavigation of India, through some of the world’s most crowded and isolated places. Starting in the capital city of Delhi, they will travel to the northern Himalayan regions and back down to the rainforests of the southeast. A place of dichotomies and extremes, India is at once ancient and modern, material and deeply spiritual, vibrant and chaotic, and home to both great wealth and incredible poverty. As they ride, Colin and Ryan will film a documentary exploring these contradictions in search of the “Real India.”

Colin and Ryan Pyle were awarded a Guinness World Record for being the first people to fully circumnavigate China by motorcycle during their 65 day, 18,000 km journey, the Middle Kingdom Ride.
