Description
Sharing your story and the stories of others is an important part of the experience of working with marginalized communities. These issues are just as relevant across the globe as they are across the road. Stories can be told through photos, blogs, social media, videos, and even research articles. Because of the power inequities that exist in community development initiatives, this storytelling comes with a certain level of personal responsibility. In an environment that does not provide us with guidelines for ethical storytelling practices, it is up to us to develop our own codes of ethics for storytelling in community development initiatives. Join us in a conversation about how we as a community can best respect the dignity and autonomy of the people who help shape our own stories.
