The Lionel Gelber Prize is a literary award for the world’s best non-fiction book in English on foreign affairs that seeks to deepen public debate on significant international issues. Founded in 1989 by Canadian diplomat Lionel Gelber, the award is presented annually by the Munk School and Foreign Policy magazine.

Ahead of this year’s winner announcement, Janice Stein, chair of the prize jury, spoke with Emily Bass about her shortlisted book, To End a Plague: America’s Fight to Defeat AIDS in Africa. You can find their talk on Apple, SoundCloud, or Youtube. Learn more about To End a Plague, and all of this year’s shortlisted books, at the Lionel Gelber Prize website.
