TORONTO, ON – Accomplished diplomat, innovative former Canadian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Munk School’s Canada Centre for Global Security Studies, David Mulroney is set to deliver the keynote address for INDePth Conference 2013 at the University of Toronto, his alma mater.

In its sophomore year, INDePth 2013’s focus is China, framing the conversation around the notion of the “end of development.” With the leadership transition, the conference is situated at a time when it is more important than ever to open dialogue regarding the nation’s ongoing social, economic, and demographic transformations, as well as the state of its developmental momentum and economic growth.

And who better to be the keynote speaker than someone with front line field experience? David Mulroney has been referred to as “one of the Canada’s most innovative ambassadors” by Janice Stein. After graduating from the University of Toronto, David Mulroney joined the Foreign Service in 1981, going on to serve a number of senior appointments in relation to China ranging from Executive Director of the Canada-China Business Council, to Canada’s Senior Official for Asia Pacific Cooperation (APEC), to the Ambassador of Canada to the People’s Republic of China (appointed in 2009).

With a phenomenal keynote speaker, a unique conference style, and a lively topic, INDePth 2013 promises to be an enlightening vessel for open dialogue. Sponsored by the Munk School of Global Affairs, the Asian Institute, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and a host of other organizations, INDePth is an international conference that is interactive and inclusive.
