Warning: This post is going to be filled a lot of exclamation marks and boundless holiday cheer.

It’s been a tough couple of months, but exams are coming to an end and the two weeks of freedom are starting. NO essays, NO exams and most importantly, NO stress! It’s time to prepare ourselves for the holiday season. I will just say it; I love the holiday season, and I mean, who doesn’t? Everyone is so much nicer than usual, you can smile at strangers without being creepy and there is so much food (priorities, people). But seriously, the best part of the holiday season is that you don’t even have to be celebrating to get caught up in the infectious festive atmosphere.

We PCJ students work our butts off during the semester and now’s our chance to sit back and do nothing for a few days (underrated activity).

So here are some of favourite things to do during the Holiday Season!

Watch Christmas Movies

Look, I don’t care how cliché you find them, Christmas movies are key to holiday joy. I’m sure all of you already know this, but here are essential Christmas movies that need to be part of your life.

  1. The Grinch – The Jim Carrey version if you are looking for brilliance.
  2. Nightmare Before Christmas – Tim Burton does Christmas and it is spectacular.
  3. Home Alone – I’m a 90s kid and Macaulay Culkin is forever Christmas in my 10 year old head.
  4. Elf- Because Will Ferrell needs to be on your TV at least once this holiday season.
  5. A Christmas Carol – The animated Jim Carrey version (because I am biased).
  6. Love Actually – Reasons folks, good reasons.

Listen to Michael Buble

Yes, there is some great Christmas/Holiday music out there but as Canadian I feel that it is our rightful duty to play Michael Buble. Please make your way to the deluxe special edition album, Christmas (yes it’s called Christmas) on YouTube.

Cause baby it’s cold outside.

Spend time with loved ones

Apart from all the great things the holiday season brings us, my absolute favourite is spending times with family and friends. My friends and I are separated by universities all across Canada and the holidays are when we spend time together. So put down those electronic gadgets (I know I’m like 80) and just BE with your loved ones. The best gift you can give anyone you love is your absolute undivided attention.

Now let us be MERRY with some Billy Mack!

From all of us at the Trudeau Centre, Happy Holidays to you and yours!
