The Adrian and Donald Macdonald Internship Scholarship

The Adrian and Donald Macdonald Internship Scholarship at the Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict and Justice honours the exceptional contribution of Donald Macdonald to the Centre’s innovative undergraduate program. The scholarship has been established to support Peace, Conflict and Justice (PCJ) students involved in an internship opportunity and it has contributed tremendously to the academic and professional success of the students. In fact, while the Trudeau Centre regulates the number of hours a student spends at their placement, it is evident that these opportunities are more time consuming and demanding than the average course.  These extra demands can make it difficult for students to fully participate while managing a part-time job and a full-time course load. The Adrian and Donald Macdonald Internship Scholarship has a tremendous impact in enabling students to make the most out of their working experience.

About the Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict and Justice Internship Program

The Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict and Justice has long felt the need for students to engage in experiential learning in order to fully appreciate this area of study.  Internships provide first-hand exposure to the topics discussed in class, and provide an opportunity for students to gain working experience before graduating and entering a highly competitive job market.  It also exposes students to networking opportunities and different post-graduation options. Working broadly within the themes of peace, conflict and justice, our students have worked in roles that combine research, social media, external relations, programing support, and publishing.

A Message from Tea

As an international student who pays higher tuition rates, I have supported my studies by working. While trying to find a healthy balance between academic success and involvement in extra-curricular activities, financial constraints have been an ever-present distraction. Thanks to the generous support from the Adrian and Donald Macdonald Internship Scholarship, I have been able to dedicate myself to the internship opportunity while enhancing my academic experience through a hands-on approach to learning.
