When it comes to the effects of marijuana use, the public discourse is full of conflicting evidence. Nazlee Maghsoudi, a recent graduate of the Master of Global Affairs program, has co-authored a report with the International Centre for Science in Drug Policy (ICSDP) aimed at setting the record straight when it comes to cannabis.

The report, part of ICDSP’s #CannabisClaims campaign, examines 13 common anecdotes about marijuana use and regulation. In all instances, the report reveals that these claims—such as cannabis being as addictive as heroin—are not strongly supported by scientific evidence. The ICDSP’s goal is to push politicians toward evidence-based marijuana policies.
