Grants & Awards, Student: Call for Applications: Dr. David Chu Student Leadership Awards

The Dr. David Chu Program in Asia Pacific Studies is accepting applications from students for its Student Leadership Awards.

Value and number of awards range from $500 to $2,000 per student based on applicant pool each year.

These awards are open to undergraduate or graduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science who are pursuing research or study related to the Asia Pacific region (East or Southeast Asia). The recipients must demonstrate their ongoing and planned contributions to promoting Asia Pacific Studies and research at the University of Toronto. Academic merit will also be considered.

This award requires demonstration of financial need. Preference will be given to students on OSAP. Some funding is available for students who are not Ontario residents but demonstrate financial need. Students must be receiving OSAP or other provincial loans during the academic year for which they are applying for the scholarship. For non-OSAP recipients, financial need is demonstrated on page 5 of the enclosed Financial Needs Assessment Form when a negative balance appears in the Total Need field (e.g., Total Income is less than Total Expenses). Please contact ai.asianstudies@utoronto.ca for assistance with filling out this form.

Applicants must submit the completed application form and attachments (unofficial transcripts, CV) to ai.asianstudies@utoronto.ca by the deadline of April 5. They must also have a faculty, staff, or student referee submit a letter of recommendation directly via email to ai.asianstudies@utoronto.ca by the deadline.

Download the application form here.

Please contact Katherine MacIvor at ai.asianstudies@utoronto.ca with questions.
