Citizen Lab‘s founder and director, Ron Deibert, is a finalist for the 2021 Tällberg-SNF-Eliasson Global Leadership Prize. Awarded annually, the Prize is given to outstanding leaders who demonstrate the willingness and capacity to address the complexity of 21st-century challenges in innovative, risk-taking, and ethical ways. Their work is global in aspiration or implication and is rooted in universal values.
Deibert, a renowned professor of Political Science, is one of 11 finalists selected from 2,414 submissions, spanning 126 countries. His nomination comes as a result of his work with the Citizen Lab, who, under Deibert’s leadership, conducts pioneering research into digital threats to civil society and democracy. Earlier this fall, Deibert’s book RESET: Reclaiming the Internet for Civil Society won the Shaunessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing.
The jury’s selections for the two winners of the 2021 Tällberg-SNF-Eliasson Global Leadership Prizes will be announced in November and awarded in December.
