Charles Baker

Charles is a second-year JD/MGA student at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Munk School. Prior to his involvement with the Global Migration Lab, Charles worked at a refugee resettlement centre in the U.S. and volunteered at Elpida refugee camp in northern Greece. At the Faculty of Law, he was part of the International Human Rights Program’s SOGIE research group, creating country of origin reports for use in LGBTQ+ refugee claims in Canada. Recently, Charlie interned with UNHCR Bangkok’s protection unit, providing counselling and support to urban refugees and asylum seekers. Currently, he volunteers with The 519’s Refugee Mock Hearing Project, helping to prepare refugee claimants for upcoming hearings.
