U of T’s Munk School offers new dual degree with London School of Economics

Students in the two-year program receive professional master’s degrees from both LSE’s School of Public Policy and U of T’s Munk School
The University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and the London School of Economics’ School of Public Policy have established a new dual degree program, allowing students to earn a Master of Public Administration from LSE and a Master of Global Affairs from U of T in just two years. The program is now accepting applications for entry in September 2021.
Dual degree students will follow a curriculum that integrates coursework at LSE and the University of Toronto. Students spend their first year in London pursuing coursework offered through the Master of Public Administration program at LSE, building key skills in political science, economics, quantitative analysis and an understanding of the philosophical principles underlying good public policy. Following a global summer internship, students spend the second year in Toronto pursuing coursework through the Master of Global Affairs program, which offers in-depth study of the global system and its stakeholders, innovation policy, global justice, development, markets, and security.
“Students in the dual degree program will benefit from access to two sets of expert faculty, research and teaching, with the opportunities offered by two world-leading universities,” said Professor Ron Levi, the Munk School’s Associate Director, Academic. “This dual degree offers rigorous academic coursework, a robust professional skills programme and the opportunity to gain real-world policy experience through a global internship, a research-based policy paper, and a client-focused capstone project.”
The professional dual degree program is expected to draw students from around the globe and builds on U of T’s and the Munk School’s global presence, which includes dual degrees with Sciences Po in Paris and the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
“The dual degree offers an outstanding opportunity for students to engage with complex issues in national and global policy-making,” said Professor Shiri Breznitz, Director of the Munk School’s Master of Global Affairs Program. “This program is geared toward students who want to blend rigorous multidisciplinary learning with international experience. Through the dual degree, students gain a strong academic foundation and benefit from the career support, resources and alumni networks of two prestigious universities as they build a global career.”
