CSUS Graduate Student Workshop
Urban regeneration initiatives can help cities improve derelict built environments and increase their tax revenues. However, these efforts can also produce negative outcomes (e.g. displacement). This talk explored how gentrification occurs in a shrinking cities context and examines how gentrification and disinvestment affect the housing opportunities of low-income residents in Detroit.
