Description

Professor Dan Breznitz, co-editor of The Third Globalization, will discuss the main premises of the book in a conversation with Professor Joseph Wong, Halbert Professor of Innovation Professor & Canada Research Chair, and Director of the Asian Institute.

While the global financial woes of the Great Recession continue to exert a negative impact on western economies, emerging economic powers — the BRIC nations —have made strong recoveries. The question of whether historically wealthy nations — the U.S., Western European countries, and Japan — can maintain prosperity has been a hot talking point for every interested party. Can their middle classes remain comfortable as more good and technical jobs are outsourced overseas? Can they support themselves in the face of aging populations?

In The Third Globalization, eminent political economists Dan Breznitz and John Zysman present a timely study of these global economic issues. With analysis of growth prospects among industrialized nations from some of the discipline’s leadings scholars, they offer a comparative perspective that creates a fuller picture of the political implications of current world economy.

Join Professor Dan Breznitz in conversation with Professor Joseph Wong as they consider the book’s powerful portrayal of this devastating global problem.
