David Gordon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics at the University of California Santa, where he teaches courses in international relations, transnational environmental governance, and global urban politics. His research addresses the politics and power dynamics of global coordination and explores the opportunities and limitations of non-state (and especially inter-city) governance initiatives, with a special emphasis on how these internal dynamics work within novel governance spaces and shape governance outcomes. His first book, Cities on the World Stage: The Politics of Global Urban Climate Governancewas published by Cambridge University Press in 2020. Current research projects focus on the accountability of novel systems of global urban climate governance and the durability of sustainability transitions taking place in, and through, cities.
