This spring, Professor Jennifer Purtle, Acting Director of the Dr. David Chu Program in Asia Pacific Studies, along with Kenneth Brummel (Assistant Curator, Modern Art, AGO), selected Bryan Li as the winner of the 2016-17 Imaging the Asia Pacific photo contest for his photo “The Forgotten Man.”

The photo was selected from over 100 entries from students across programs and campuses at the University of Toronto. Bryan is a student in Computer Science.

Two runners up were also selected, including Master of Science in Planning student Tammy Chou for her photo, “Closed,” and Munk One student Stephanie Xu for her photo “Keeping Watch.”

“Keeping Watch,” by Stephanie Xu. Living a nomadic lifestyle means simplistic ways. This Mongolian grandmother often sits outside her family ger in Northern Taiga and keeps an eye out for visitors, both human and livestock.
