Thanks to the generosity of the Associates of the University of Toronto, the Centre for the Study of the United States at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy seeks to appoint one Bissell-Heyd Research Fellow, for the period September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020.

EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: FRIDAY, MAY 31, 2019

Research Fellows are limited to existing Assistant and Associate Professors within the University of Toronto. Their research interests should be related to the study of the United States, broadly conceived. Research Fellows will be asked to coordinate a public research event or series of events with the assistance of the Centre’s Director. These events will be the initiative of the Fellow and will reflect their own interests. Centre resources will be available both to hold such events and to aid in procuring outside resources.

Fellows will receive a stipend of $10,000 to support the costs of the research event. In exceptional cases, where external research funding has already been secured, the stipend can be used towards course release, conditional upon approval of the Chair in their home department.

To apply, interested faculty members should submit:

  • A current CV
  • A brief description of their current research interests (approx. 500 words).
  • A description of a public research event they propose to mount as part of the fellowship.

Please submit applications to the CSUS Director, Professor Nicholas Sammond, at: csus.director@utoronto.ca, with a cc to: csus@utoronto.ca
