Professor Francis Cody has been awarded a 2014 Edward Sapir Prize from the Society for Linguistic Anthropology for his book The Light of Knowledge: Literacy Activism and the Politics of Writing in South India (Cornell 2013). The award is presented to acknowledge a “book that makes the most significant contribution to our understanding of language in society, or the ways in which language mediates historical or contemporary sociocultural processes.” Learn more here.
