China frees Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig hours after Meng Wanzhou released

On September 24, Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou struck a deal with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve their charges against her, allowing her to be released from custody in Canada and return to China. a deal that has paved the way for a B.C. court to discharge her and allow the Huawei Technologies executive to return to China.

Shortly after her release, China released Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, who were initially detained in China just days after Meng’s arrest and held for over 1000 days.
