Emily Grenon, a 1st-year CERES student who completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in History and Material Culture, has won the EUCAnet Memory Politics in Europe and Canada Graduate Student Essay Contest. Her research focuses on the material culture of nationalism in Western Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Emily’s essay titled “Speaker/Mirror/Eye” explored the painting “Seamstresses Listen to Hitler’s Speech” (1960) by László Lakner” was the co-winner of the competition.
