In February 2014, eight students of Dr. Robert Austin’s POL359Y course travelled to the Republic of Georgia through an International Course Module, in order to conduct independent field research on different aspects of the European enlargement project in the Caucasus. Topics ranged from internally displaced persons, to criminal justice reform, to corruption and transparency reform, to film and culture. They met with key stakeholders including the Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, the Chief of Staff of the former presidential administration, and the EU Ambassador to Georgia, as well as a number of representatives from civil society organizations and academia. The final products were showcased at the Undergraduate Research Fair in early March.
