Our European Studies Students’ Association (ESSA) has recently published the latest installment of its undergraduate journal, Messages in the Media. The journal can be accessed in full online. The journal team has issued the following statement:

Dear Readers,

On behalf of the 2019-2020 executive and editorial teams at ESSA, it is our pleasure to present you the 2020 volume of Messages in the Media. In this edition, our analysts focused on critical and key issues that were spotlighted in the news of the featured countries during the 2019 calendar year. We hope that you would be able to gain a deeper and informative understanding of the countries’ affairs through the analysis in the journal.

This project began in September 2019 where our team of editors and analysts began the writing cycle. We at the executive and editorial teams were amazed by the eagerness and excitement of the analysts who had volunteered to write in addition to their academic workloads. With this, both of us would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who wrote in the year’s edition and to those who organized and designed the journal itself. To all who helped contribute to this year’s edition, thank you sincerely and congratulations for the completion of this strenuous and rewarding process.

This journal would not have been possible without the support of the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CERES). We at ESSA would like to particularly recognize the valued guidance of Professor Robert Austin and the generosity of Georgina Steinsky-Schwartz.

Looking ahead, the 2020-2021 executive team is working alongside the editorial team on improving the content, theme, and platform of the journal. More details will be announced once available.

Lastly, thank you again to readers like you for the continued support and we hope you would enjoy and appreciate the efforts of our analysts and editors on research regarding the European Union.

Sincerely,

Arina Dmitrenko & Ericsson Sing
