Biography

Dr. Eunice Eunhee Jang is Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development. Dr. Jangs research is largely situated in the areas of language assessment, educational measurement, and program evaluation. More specifically, Dr. Jang and her research team are actively involved in various research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and SSHRC programs. Some of them include:

1) Her SSHRC Insight Grant-funded research (2016-2021) advances teaching and learning through the integration of technology-rich assessment to pedagogy. BalanceAI is an AI-infused assessment platform which provides activities for elementary-school students and teachers. It assesses students’ learning orientations (self-concept, goal orientations, self regulation, and grit), literacy skills, oral language ability, and cognitive functioning. It provides instant feedback for individual students and teachers.

2) The ISEF-funded research (2020-2022) is intended to develop a platform called International Student Support Dashboard (iSSD@OISE) to promote global scholarship and culturally responsive educational practice and policy. The primary objectives of the iSSD@OISE project are to support international students’ academic oral and written language development through self-guided, mentor-led, and peer-to-peer support and automated feedback support, and further, to facilitate translanguaging and knowledge-sharing activities between international and domestic students. It will provide international students with relevant, practical, and discipline-specific oral and written language support tailored to students’ discipline of study.
