By offering Pan-Asian Studies courses, the Asian Institute works toward erasing regional barriers in the study of Asia. The two new courses target students of the Dr. David Chu program in Asia Pacific Studies and the South Asian Studies program.

Twelve students in the Dr. David Chu Program in Asia Pacific Studies will be spending their reading week 2009 on the ground in South Korea. The field school initiative was lead by Professor Ito Peng and Stephen Trott, PhD Candidate, Political Science.

Six students from various disciplines were awarded the Asian Institute Graduate Student Support Grants. The grants provide travel support for graduate students to present at a major academic conference or to do brief research.
