The Asian Institute and the Asia Pacific Reader invite students to write short, analytical articles for the web and our newsletter and conduct interviews with faculty and visiting speakers. The AI’s affiliated faculty members are leading scholars from a range of disciplines, and our more than 100 events per year bring in experts on Asia from around the world. But what’s most impressive about the Asian Institute is the work of the students. We want to tap into this web of knowledge and put a public spotlight on it, and you as students are the best ones to achieve this.

So please let us know if you’d like to be a contributor with us. Browse through our upcoming event listings and faculty profiles to spark ideas, or join our next editorial meeting. Tell us who you’d like to interview and we’ll arrange it, or pitch an article idea to share your own opinions and research with the world. All U of T students are welcome. Email Katherine at ai.asianstudies@utoronto.ca to get involved.

Let the conversAsian begin!

Ideas for content:

· Capsule interview with a visiting speaker (come up with 5 questions and we will arrange a 15-30 minute interview).

· A faculty spotlight. Is there a U of T Asian specialist whose work you find fascinating? Propose someone and we’ll arrange for you to sit down with them for an interview.

· A debate. Put two professors head to head on a topic where they have different viewpoints.

· An opinion piece. Ask a faculty member or write your ownshort opinion piece about an interesting discussion you had in class, or how a research paper you’re writing relates to current events.

· Alumni update. Contact one of our recent graduates to find out what they’re up to now.

· Propose your own idea!
