In September 2012, recent U of T graduates, Melinda Jacobs, Sara Lee, Remi Kanji, and Wendy Pan will be travelling to Taiwan to study, map, and assess the social innovation landscape in Taiwan. The project will begin by cataloguing existing local social innovation enterprises, particularly those that are relevant to impoverished Aboriginal communities in Taiwan, though it is hoped that the research will be broad and exhaustive. The next step will be to highlight and facilitate the address of innovation gaps. Project outcomes include an online resource inventory, as well as an ongoing series of local lectures and workshops to facilitate the refining and scaling of these ideas and increase their accessibility to a foreign audience. Progress will be charted online through a blog, including podcasts, interviews, and write-ups of relevant workshops and lectures. Current partners include, Asian Institute, Canadian Trade Office in Taiwan, Taiwan National University, and Asia Pacific Foundation.
