This latest exhibit follows a successful premiere at the Munk Centre for International Studies in September 2008 and an appearance at the University of Ottawa in February 2009. The event is co-sponsored by McMaster University’s Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition [http://globalization.mcmaster.ca/]. The exhibit will also greet participants of the Société québécoise de Science politique (SQSP)’s annual conference in Montreal in May.

The photo documentary features nineteen images and texts by four young Canadian photographers, including two University of Toronto graduate students, who experienced the construction site of Beijing’s Water Cube firsthand. Though the iconic Olympic structure has been in the media spotlight, the conditions under which it was built remain obscure, especially to international observers. Images in this exhibit reveal the Water Cube’s most striking architectural features while foregrounding the construction workers who built it. Texts paired with the photos invite viewers to reflect critically on the inclusiveness and possibilities of the new China. Additional information about the exhibit can be found at www.lemakingof.com.
